The Practice
The practice is a five-doctor partnership. It holds a contract with the NHS Commissioning Board.
All doctors provide general medical services, maternity, minor surgery and contraception services.
Contraception services include: coils (Dr Brotherton); contraceptive implants (Dr Webb and Dr Brotherton).
The practice offers a telephone triage service for same day appointments between the hours of 8.00am to 11.00am, Monday to Friday.
The practice is a training practice and teaching partner with the Hull & York Medical School (HYMS). We provide teaching and work experience for health care professionals (or those intending to be). Your permission will always be asked for them to attend your consultation.
Patients living within the practice catchment area (see map on back cover) who wish to register with us may do so at reception. Those patients who move out of our area will be asked to leave the list.
Patients may express a preference, verbally or in writing, to receive services from a particular professional or type of professional. This preference will be recorded in your records and we will endeavour to comply with it whenever possible. Please note that we cannot guarantee a specific practitioner for an urgent appointment.
We are a dispensing practice and are able to dispense prescriptions for those patients who are registered as living over one mile away from a chemist, also to temporary residents. The dispensary is located next to reception.
Any patient who is abusive to the doctors, members of staff or any other person on the premises, will be given one written warning. A further occurrence will result in the patient being removed from the list. Acts of violence or offering violence will result in immediate removal from the practice list.
Practice Staff
We employ an Advanced Nurse Practitioner, a Triage Nurse, a Practice/finance manager, Sarah Gray, an Assistant Practice Manager, Sandy Midgley, an Office Manager, Jo Eeles and a team of administration and reception staff. We have a Dispensary Manager and a team of dispensing assistants.
Practice Nurses
The practice has a team of nurses. All are registered nurses and copies of their registration are held by the practice. They are available during surgery. Appointments are necessary and should be arranged with the receptionists. We also have a triage nurse who deals with requests for on-the-day appointments during our busy mornings.
The nurses are fully qualified to carry out:
